Students meet residents as part of Rilley Art Prize

Following the enormous success of the Reilly Art Prize in 2024, this year’s program has kicked off with students visiting The Willows and Willow Wood to be paired with residents.

The Reilly Art Prize sees art students in Years 10-12 visit Lifeview regularly to paint a portrait of a resident, getting to know the residents through a series of visits. The competition carries prize money of over $5000.

The final artwork must tell the resident’s story – and as we saw with last year’s quality entries, there are many amazing pathways the young artists take in telling their stories.

Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates from this year’s Reilly Art Prize – named in honour of Lifeview Executive Director Peter Reilly OAM, who has had a distinguished career in business, the arts and philanthropy.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) rarely has cause to acknowledge pharmacists specifically working in aged care as it hasn’t been common practice in the aged care industry.

However, Lifeview is proud to be a pioneer in bringing pharmacists in-house to provide onsite care to residents – and it is providing enormous benefit to residents.

One of our wonderful pharmacists, Linda Ha, received the prestigious PSA Victorian Pharmacists Medal recently at a ceremony in Melbourne.

Nominated by Monash University researchers impressed by Linda’s exemplary work on a Lifeview/Monash trial project titled EMBRACE, Linda led the way in helping Lifeview reduce the need for psychotropic medications for residents living with dementia.

The Australian Government announced recently that it would start the new Aged Care Act on November 1, 2025, and not July 1, 2025, as previously advised.

Initially, the Government had moved the deadline for the new Act to July 1, however, the industry had advocated for sensible implementation timelines to ensure a smooth transition for older people and providers.

Lifeview has always proudly led the way in person-centred care, so there won’t be too many changes in the way we deliver care and services. However, we will continue to focus on making sure care is truly tailored to each resident.

More detail will be provided in coming weeks and months.

As a proudly Rainbow Tick accredited provider of residential aged care, we take this opportunity to wish everyone a “Happy Pride Month!” this June.

Residents from all four Lifeview homes recently came together to celebrate the occasion with a pizza luncheon, discussion about Pride Month, and residents made and exchanged friendship bracelets for the occasion (inspired by Taylor Swift!)

Lifeview also recently marked IDAHOBIT – International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination, and Transphobia – in all homes and the Carnegie office with a morning tea and IDAHOBIT pledges.

Spirits were high once again at the annual 95+ celebration – honouring Lifeview's most senior residents.

Every May 9 (ninth day of the fifth month), Lifeview honours its 95+ residents with a fancy high tea, live musical entertainment, refreshments and merriment.

This year’s occasion had residents singing and dancing to the live music, enjoying the company of fellow residents, family and friends as Lifeview staff played host.

We have successfully launched our new Family Onboarding Information Sessions, for families of new residents.

The sessions are designed to support families through their loved one’s transition into aged care, answering your questions and outlining what we call “the Lifeview difference”.

The sessions are hosted by our dedicated and knowledgeable Customer Experience Champion, Gill Hynes. If you have any questions about the sessions, please email marketing@lifeview.com.au
