Australia's aged care system is changing. From November 1, 2025, the new Aged Care Act will take effect, introducing stronger protections for older people, improved support for carers and families, and clearer standards for aged care providers.
This page serves as a guide to assist Lifeview residents and families to better understand what the reforms mean, covering key changes, what to expect, and how to access trusted resources.
The Aged Care Act 2025 is replacing the previous 1997 legislation and introduces significant updates across the sector.
Some of the key changes include:
These reforms apply to all government-funded aged care services, including residential aged care.
If you or a loved one receives care in a residential aged care home, the reforms are designed to make the experience safer, more personalised and easier to understand.
Residents will have more say in their care planning and daily decisions. Families and carers will have better access to information and will be formally recognised as supporters in the care process.
There are no changes to current care arrangements or fees unless you choose to opt into new services. Lifeview will continue to support all residents and families through the transition.

Lifeview has been proactive in preparing for the upcoming November 1 changes to ensure that we are continuing to deliver the best quality care in line with the new requirements.
In preparation for the changes, Lifeview is:
Many of the changes align closely with Lifeview's long-held core values regarding person-centred care, resident autonomy and choice, connectedness and engagement.
What is the Statement of Rights?
The Statement of Rights is a legal document that outlines what older people are entitled to when receiving aged care.
Are there changes to fees under the new aged care laws?
Existing fees agreements won't automatically change. New contribution caps will limit how much individuals can be asked to pay over time. Optional services must be clearly outlined and approved. Lifeview will continue to provide clear, upfront information regarding all fees.
How can residents raise concerns and provide feedback?
Lifeview residents can speak directly to their Residential Manager or any team member, provide feedback (including anonymously) via our Tell Touch feedback system (digital kiosks available in all homes), via Let Us Know forms (available in all homes), over the phone, or email letushelp@lifeview.com.au
All concerns are handled fairly, promptly, and without reprisal.
