The 2025 Reilly Art Prize is officially under way.
Nine Cranbourne Secondary College students visited Lifeview Willow Wood earlier this week to meet the residents they have been paired with.
The visit kicked off personal connections that will inspire the students’ final artworks, each reflecting the life and interests of their resident.
Now in its second year, the Reilly Art Prize is already attracting familiar faces. One returning student brought a new Collingwood scarf as a gift for her resident, Sam, a heartwarming gesture that speaks to the bonds formed through the program.
With over $5000 in cash prizes on offer, interest is high. Students are eager to be part of the project again, and time is running out to join the program.
Last year’s winner, Luka, a Year 11 student from Emerald Secondary College, took home the $5000 first prize for her standout portrait of Emerald Glades resident Doug behind his drum kit.
“The quality of work produced by the students last year was exceptional, and it was clear from the students’ feedback that it was a very special program to be a part of,” Lifeview CEO Samantha Jewell said.
This year, the competition has expanded to include a broader range of accepted mediums, opening the door for more creative expression at the exhibition and awards night that will conclude the program.
Art students in Years 10, 11 and 12 wishing to take part in this year’s Reilly Art Prize can fill in the online form. Lifeview will then connect them with a participating home and resident.
Lifeview homes are based in Chelsea (Argyle Court), Cranbourne (Willow Wood), Emerald (Emerald Glades) and Wheelers Hill (The Willows). Students can choose which home they would like to visit to be paired with a resident.
