Lifeview’s Re-Cycle program has delivered again in time for Christmas.

Seven beautifully restored bicycles are on their way to loving new homes in the Chelsea and Cranbourne communities, thanks to the residents of Lifeview Argyle Court and Willow Wood.
The program – which brings together the gentlemen of Argyle Court and Willow Wood with Lifeview Social Support and Maintenance staff to revive second-hand bicycles – recently donated the latest batch of bikes to the Chelsea Community Church of Christ and Community Information and Support Cranbourne (CISC).
Both organisations were thrilled to be selected and will now distribute the bikes to those who need them most.
CISC Executive Officer, Leanne Petrides, thanked the Lifeview residents who personally delivered the bikes last week.
She also shared the vital work CISC does in the Cranbourne community.
“We will hand out presents and food hampers to families who really struggle throughout the year,” she said.
“We try to make sure every single child gets a gift.
“Thank you (Lifeview residents) for all your hard work … parents particularly love being able to wrap a present and see the joy on their kids’ faces on Christmas morning. These bikes will be very special for those families – your generosity is just incredible.”
In addition to the children’s bikes, residents also donated an adult bicycle to CISC – something Leanne said could make a profound difference in someone’s life.
“It helps them get around, whether that’s to their work, to find employment, or to apply for housing – it’s very important,” she said.
Chelsea Church of Christ representative, Kay Moran, said her organisation was grateful to be involved for the second year.
“We’re very grateful – it’s such a wonderful program,” she said.
“It’s good that somebody who can’t afford a bike can get one thanks to these gentlemen and this program.
“There are so many families who simply don’t have the money for a new bike at Christmas, so this is wonderful.”
Lifeview Social Support team member, Gayle White, has been instrumental in driving the program since its inception, working closely with Lifeview Maintenance team members James Tucci and Brenton Hiles – and, of course, the residents themselves.
“Working with these men – I’m so proud of them all,” Gayle said.

“Every fortnight we’ve been working on the bikes, getting them ready to hand over to our wonderful charities.”
Maintenance team member Brenton said Re-Cycle had been personally rewarding.
“It’s been really enjoyable – not only working on the bikes but getting to know the residents on a more personal level, hearing their past stories… it’s been fantastic,” he said.
“Rain, hail or shine, they’re out here. It’s great to have these bikes to hand over.”
Lifeview Re-Cycle was shortlisted this year as a finalist in the Future of Ageing Awards.
