A new cookbook published by Lifeview celebrates the culinary favourites of a group of residential aged care residents in Melbourne.
Resident Recipes – From Our Home to Yours features 15 timeless recipes contributed by residents of Lifeview’s four homes in Melbourne’s south-east.
“A Lifeview cookbook has long been a vision and we are thrilled to see it come to fruition,” Lifeview CEO Samantha Jewell said.
“We had an enthusiastic response when we called for recipe submissions from the residents, and to be able to capture and celebrate their dishes in a beautiful cookbook is really special for all involved, especially the residents and their families.”
Each recipe features a photo of the resident and their personal recollections of the story behind the dish.
One of the featured residents, Tony, was a chef at the Savoy Hotel, Heinz, and the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He tells his story in the cookbook.
In addition to the sumptuous recipes, Lifeview has partnered with renowned Victorian winery Scotchmans Hill, which has expertly paired every dish in the book with a particular wine variety.
Lifeview will sell copies of the cookbook through its four homes – Argyle Court in Chelsea, Emerald Glades in Emerald, The Willows in Wheelers Hill, and Willow Wood in Cranbourne – and via an online shop to be launched next week.
To celebrate the launch of the cookbook, Lifeview is offering a Pre-Order Special – just $20 a copy of Resident Recipes – From Our Home to Yours (until 5pm Wednesday December 20). The usual cover price will be $30 from Thursday December 21.
