Residents were rocking around the clock – on the dancefloor and the jukebox – at Lifeview’s annual Positive Ageing Celebration (PAC) event this month.
The 1950s rock and roll themed “JJ’s Diner” proved a roaring celebration with all the trimmings, including dance, music, sliders, fries, milkshakes and pecan pie, 50s fashion, roller skates, pink Cadillacs and lots more.
Held at Springvale Town Hall, over 240 people attended with residents and family arriving from Lifeview homes, Argyle Court Chelsea, Emerald Glades, The Willows in Wheelers Hill and Willow Wood in Cranbourne.
Professional rock and roll dancers attended to teach attendees a variety of moves, and a live entertainer had the room tapping and singing along to a wide repertoire of hits from the booming ‘50s.
Lifeview CEO Samantha Jewell explained the importance of PAC on the Lifeview calendar and what it meant to staff and residents.
“PAC is such an amazing time of the year, one that we all look forward to. It brings an energy and warmth that highlights all that is positive about working in this extremely rewarding industry,” she said.
“Not only does the event align with the Victorian Seniors Festival, it’s also a great time for residents to get together and connect with friends and family from across all Lifeview homes, creating precious memories for everyone involved.
“A lot of time, creativity and energy goes into this event, via a combination of residents, staff and sponsors, making it just that little bit more special.”
Stephen Milsted, Executive Manager, Hospitality, ran the kitchen along with Willow Wood chef Frank, and the ‘50s-themed fare proving immensely popular with attendees.
Lifeview Social Support and Events Manager Annitta Macauley oversaw the delivery of PAC and said it was amazing to see so much engagement and interaction among attendees.
“Seeing all staff, residents and families come together as one and celebrate a day of fun, music, food and entertainment was really special,” she said.
“The months of planning they had done, organising and sewing their own costumes, they were so proud walking into ‘the diner’ through the archway made of records.
“To have 240 people gather to celebrate positive ageing was just amazing. It really showcased everything that is great about Lifeview.”
PAC is one of several unique events on the Lifeview calendar that residents look forward to each year.
Lifeview sincerely thanks event sponsors for their ongoing support, Bidfood, Chemist Warehouse, Cobalt Health, CVE Fire & Safety, Executive Cleaning Services, GMR Mechanical Services, Hayes Pest Control, Hesta, Intech 3, Scotchmans Hill, Tumac, Westwood Wines and What the Fruit.
