Sixteen Lifeview residents from The Willows and Argyle Court visited Caulfield Grammar School’s Wheelers Hill campus earlier this month to take part in the “Human Community Library”, an initiative driven by two Year 9 students and their teacher.

Students Jessica and Molly, supported by teacher Melanie Beere, reached out to The Willows’ Social Support Coordinator, Bernadette Richardson, to enquire about Lifeview residents conversing and sharing stories with 20 Grade 6 stories.

The outcome was beautiful, the students highly engaged and asking lots of questions to the elderly residents, who were equally enthusiastic answering and asking questions of their own.

All involved gained enormous benefit from the experience, forging greater understanding of each other’s lived experience and emphasising the importance of connection across generations.

Afterwards some of the students performed music for the residents while they enjoyed morning tea.
