Construction has officially commenced on the 56-bed extension of Lifeview Willow Wood in Cranbourne.
The occasion was officially launched by Willow Wood centenarian Doreen Colla, Lifeview’s Director Peter Reilly, and Chief Executive Officer Madeline Gall. The $12 million 56-bed extension will take the existing home to 116-beds ensuring local residents have appropriate care options into the future.
As well as 56 single rooms with en suites, the new extension will include a resident and family café, alfresco dining options, hairdressing salon, cinema, wellness centre and day spa, resident garden, a mini-golf green, Men’s Shed, children’s play area and dog run for the home’s resident canine.
Lifeview CEO Madeline Gall says, “We are very excited to finally be commencing this extension.”
“Lifeview has been very successful in terms of not only the quality of care offered here at Willow Wood but also in being part of the fabric of the local Cranbourne community. This extension will enable us to care for a growing number of older Australians into the future.
“Willow Wood is a very popular local home that prides itself on the care of its residents and the award winning lifestyle programs it delivers - it’s all about overall quality of life.
“We believe this new extension will only build on the success of this home.” Ms. Gall said.
Current Willow Wood resident Doreen Colla, who turned 100 last month, commented “We are all very much looking forward to seeing the finished building, it is very exciting to watch it take shape.”
In addition to offering more aged care beds to the local community, the new extension will also create a number of new jobs for the area.
The extension of Willow Wood is one of a number of development projects Lifeview has in the pipeline. Construction is currently due for completion in early 2018 and the home hopes to welcome new residents a short time after that.
