Lifeview wins 2026 Ageing Australia Innovation award

Lifeview’s AlanaMac fashion project has netted the Melbourne aged care provider its second successive Ageing Australia award.

After winning last year’s ‘Making a Difference’ award for the care provided by its Emerald home, Emerald Glades, Lifeview was this year awarded the ‘Innovation’ award in the Organisation section for its groundbreaking AlanaMac fashion project.

AlanaMac saw Lifeview resident Alana team up with university student designer Mac and Lifeview Social Support, Events and Diversity Manager Annitta Macauley. Together they designed and created colourful clothing for fellow aged care residents.

The project culminated in a fashion show launch earlier this year, where Lifeview residents strutted the catwalk in their custom-made garments.

The event drew national news coverage on Channel 7, and lots of smiles and wonderful memories from all in attendance.

Lifeview CEO Samantha Jewell was on hand at The Willows on Friday to accept the award presented by Danni Campbell-Manley, Director of Residential Care at Ageing Australia.

“Innovation is an intentional focus for Lifeview, and social support programs such as the AlanaMac fashion label shine a spotlight on our contemporary approach to care,” Samantha said.

“AlanaMac epitomises person-centred aged care. Alana has always had a passion for fashion and designing clothing that people want to wear.

“Through AlanaMac, Alana has loved getting back on the sewing machine and working collaboratively with Mac and Annitta to create fun, colourful garments for fellow residents.

“We are thrilled to have won the Innovation category award, and we thank Ageing Australia for its ongoing support of these awards.”
