Chef’s Table serving up culinary connection to residents

Lifeview Chef's Table

Launched earlier this year, Chef’s Table is quickly becoming one of Lifeview’s most talked-about experiences.

The quarterly fine-dining event, designed to reward residents and celebrate their contribution to the heart and soul of each home, is held across all Lifeview locations.

Chef’s Table brings together six selected residents at a time for a curated, intimate culinary experience from Lifeview’s in-house chefs.

Guests enjoy a beautifully presented three-course menu within a carefully prepared space that feels more high-end restaurant than aged care.

The initiative is led by Lifeview’s Hospitality Services team under the guidance of Manager Roque Ferrao and supported by departments across the organisation.

The concept is simple. Reward those residents who contribute positively to the home’s culture, lend a hand, or simply need a lift.

Menus vary seasonally. The most recent winter edition featured a creamy asparagus and wild mushroom soup, followed by pan-seared salmon with fennel velouté and beetroot purée, finished with a mandarin and almond pudding with vanilla crème fraîche and pistachio crumble.

Chef’s Table is a true collaboration across the Lifeview team. Resident Managers and Social Support Coordinators manage the nomination process, ensuring a fair and diverse selection of residents each round.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Across all eight sessions to date, residents have left smiling, energised, and full of stories, often continuing to talk about the experience days later.

At Willow Wood, Residential Manager Jess shared how the event reignited a long-lost passion for one resident, Lynette.

“She went to the first Chef’s Table and loved it. It reminded her of the time she made a Country Women’s Association cookbook,” Jess said.

“She now runs her own weekly cooking classes for other residents. One week they even made her famous lasagne.’”

Beyond personal stories, staff have noted a lift in morale and social participation.

As Lifeview continues to push for creative, person-centred approaches in aged care, Chef’s Table stands out as a powerful example of what happens when you combine quality dining with dignity, purpose, and recognition.
