New Lifeview cookbook a celebration of residents' recipes and recollections

Melbourne residential aged care provider Lifeview has published a cookbook, Baking Traditions – Recipes and Recollections from Lifeview Residents, in time for Christmas.

The 72-page cookbook features 28 recipes from Lifeview residents, who were invited to submit their personal favourite baking dishes.

It is the second cookbook published by Lifeview following the success of last year’s cookbook, Resident Recipes – From Our Homes to Yours.

In addition to stunning images of each dish, this year’s cookbook contains amazing photos of each resident, both recent and from their past, along with personal anecdotes they have shared.

Among the recipes celebrated are Walt’s Peanut Butter Brownies, Edna’s Pumpkin Scones, Joan’s Shortbread Biscuits, Lorraine’s Cheesecake, Jack’s Middle Eastern Semolina Cake, Trish’s Bread and Butter Pudding and of course lots more.

There are also two classic Christmas puddings, from Russell and Marg, for the festive season.

“These recipes have stood the test of time and been enjoyed for generations by the families of the residents who submitted them,” Lifeview Executive Manager – Marketing and Communications Cody Winnell said.

“Now they’re sharing their kitchen secrets with the world, giving us all a chance to enjoy them and maybe pass them on to our own families and friends.”

Winnell said the resident stories in the book were an important feature this year.

“Including the amazing anecdotes and past photos from the residents was a real focus. We wanted to make this cookbook as much a celebration of each resident and their personality as their recipe,” he said.

Bellarine winery Scotchmans Hill has once again partnered with Lifeview for this project, with Chief Winemaker Robin Brockett providing his wine pairing suggestions for each dish.

The cookbook is on sale for $30 a copy (or two for $50) while stocks last at all four Lifeview homes (Argyle Court in Chelsea, Emerald Glades, The Willows in Wheelers Hill and Willow Wood in Cranbourne).
