Lifeview backs TeamSports4All to help local children play sport

Lifeview’s latest Paying it Forward initiative brought smiles and surprises as TeamSports4All and the residents of Argyle Court learned that an astounding $1,339.90 had been raised for the cause.

During the official cheque presentation at Argyle Court in Chelsea, audible gasps filled the room as the total was revealed, a testament to the community's generosity and spirit.

“That was truly amazing, I think everyone got a shock when they heard that amount,” resident Bernie said.

“To have children involved in sport, I think it is very, very important. I always had my children involved in it, and it does them a world of good.”

The funds will help break down barriers that prevent children from participating in community team sports for families facing financial hardship.

Driven by Lifeview’s commitment to the heartfelt mission and a range of creative fundraisers at all Lifeview homes – including selling novelty socks at Argyle Court – the donation will make a meaningful impact to several local children.

TeamSports4All representatives Lesa Jackson and Shea Watts were on hand to accept the cheque and expressed their gratitude for being chosen for the Paying it Forward initiative.

“Firstly, thank you so much to the Lifeview community. It’s absolutely amazing, thank you for choosing TeamSports4All,” Lesa said.

“This money will fund at least three children to play sport for an entire year, so that is absolutely incredible.

“Those kids … will be able to make new friends, be outside, be physically active and have the chance to connect more with their community, so thank you so much.”

With the rising cost of joining and engaging in sports, Shea said the donation would play a vital role in TeamSports4All’s ongoing mission.

“We help families that are financially disadvantaged, for kids that have never been able to play sports ever in their lives or have been but now can’t afford to continue,” she said.

“We support them through everything … continuously covering off those registration costs, which can get quite high, along with anything that might be compulsory such as their uniform, equipment and footwear.”

Lifeview Argyle Court manager Simrat Dhillon said the “funky novelty sock” idea came from the home’s Paying It Forward working group.

“Every single person who came through those doors did not leave without a [pair of] socks,” she said.

About Paying it Forward

The Lifeview Paying It Forward initiative is a heartwarming and impactful charitable program that brings together Lifeview staff, residents, and the wider community. Every two months, Lifeview supports a different cause local to one of the Lifeview homes. Charities are nominated by Lifeview staff and residents, helping to drive passion behind the giving initiative.

What sets this program apart is its collaborative approach. All four Lifeview homes and the Lifeview corporate office have formed dedicated working groups, bringing together staff and residents to brainstorm and strategise creative ways to raise funds for each selected cause.

With this initiative, Lifeview is making a lasting impact, supporting important causes in the communities they live and work in by fostering a spirit of generosity and kindness that spreads throughout the organisation.
